Dangerous Game Hunting

Hunting Africa's Dangerous Game is certainly the most exciting of all hunting experiences.  The thrill of stalking an animal that has equal or superior killing power can ignite a serious adrenaline rush.

The Buffalo is a formidable adversary and very stubborn to die. They can take a severe beating and still come after those who oppose him. Robert Ruark said it best "A Cape Buffalo looks at you like you owe him money".

The Black and White Rhino is allowed to be hunted in Africa and for that reason its numbers have increased significantly in the last 25 years.  In recent years "Green" hunts of the Rhino have become quite popular. Thaba Mmoyo Safaris offers green hunts for Rhino - these hunts can only be conducted after applied permits have been approved.

Lion, the largest of the worlds cats is not exempt from the phrase "9 Lives". They can take a lot of punishment and still have the strength to disappear into the night or turn upon it's persuers. Lions have the strength, cunning, and poise to take down Cape Buffalo, so they should not be underestimated. A thick black maned lion is the ultimate trophy for any trophy hunter. At Thaba Mmoyo Safaris we have a well known reputation for exquisite lion trophies taken on memorable hunts.

Leopard hunting is an all together different experience form any other hunting in Africa. Because of the animals nocturnal tendencies there are two popular options for successful Leopard hunting. Night hunting over Bait is the most common, or track and bay the leopard in day light with hounds. Both techniques offer their own reward. Contact us and discuss your preferences. We are equally successful in both techniques.

If you love the African bushveld, and enjoy true African hunting traditions as well as following your adversery on foot, Elephant hunting is for you. Contrary to popular belief there are numerous elephants in Africa. Conservation efforts over the last 100 years have had a significant impact on the elephants numbers. As mentioned above, Elephant hunting is done on foot, in thick cover, offering hours of bushveld serenity interrupted by moments of awe, when sighting an African giant.

The Hippo, although a grazer, is the animal that kills the most humans in Africa.  Weighing up to 3 tons and able to move at speeds of 45 mph on land makes for a lot of momentum to stop if headed your way.  Hippos are mostly hunted and shot when in the water.  If wounded they are extremely dangerous therefore the hunter has a very difficult target to hit.

A 12 foot or larger Croc is on every hunter's wishlist.  One of this size will be 40 - 60 years old, weighing 800 - 1000lbs.  An animal that must be treated with respect because in most instances it's older than the hunter, very cunning and super sly.
