A Safari to Tanzania is an unforgettable
travel experience, it touches something
deep within us and it is an experience
that will never be forgotten.
This exceptional country holds three
of Africa's wonders:
The Ngorongoro Crater
Is the world's largest intact caldera
in an exceptional geographical position,
forming a spectacular bowl of about 265
square kilometres with sides up to 600m
deep, the stalking ground of around
20,000 to 30,000 wild animals at any one
time. The crater floor consists of a
number of ecological environments that
include grassland, swamps, forests and
Lake Makat, a central soda lake filled by
the Munge river. All these various habitats
attract various wildlife to drink, wallow,
graze, hide or climb. Although animals
are free to move in and out of this
contained environment, the rich volcanic
soil, lush forests and spring source lakes
on the crater floor tend to incline both
grazers and predators to remain here
throughout the year.
Serengeti National Park
There is an overwhelming sense of
space in this architypal african savanah
which stretches for over 15,000 square
kilometers. The Greater Serengeti
Eco-system which includes several
smaller reserves and the Masai Mara in
Kenya is actually twice that size!
The name comes from the masai word
'Serengit' which means 'endless plains'.
There is very little permenant water in
Tanzania's largest National Park,
so the Migration and general location
of the most of the animals is linked to
rainfall patterns. The non-stop parade
of over a million wildebeest, a quarter
of a million zebra and numerous
Thompson's gazelles. Big cats and
other predetors follow the migration
through their territories.
Mount Kilimanjaro
The summit of Africa and one of the most
beautiful places on earth; Kilimanjaro is
the world's highest free standing,
snow-covered equatorial mountain, close
to the Kenyan border, the mountain is
completely in Tanzania. Kilimanjaro is a
non technical mountain that can be
climbed by anyone with a fair condition.
