Taking on a Cape Buffalo or a Lion with a
Bow is not for the fainthearted. All of the
Big Five offer an immense challenge to
the hunter, even more so to those who
practice this acient method of hunting that
we inherited from our ancestors.
Even though technology has improved the
bow immensely since those days, a bow
is still a primitive weapon wich requires
much more skill to operate efficiently than
a rifle. And without a doubt the ultimate
challenge to any bowhunter, is to hunt the
most dangerous animals on the planet.
Around October is the best time for
bowhunting the Big Five as it is drier and
the animals would be more concentrated
around the waterholes.
To achieve a quick kill on any of the Big
Five, an arrow that penetrates deep into
the animal is vital. We recommend the
following as a minimum. At least 90lbs
draw weight, the more the better. A arrow
weight of at least 850 grains and a
arrow that travels at least 240fps
The minimum requirement for the bow's
kinetic energy is 110ft-lbs.
